HouseWorks started as a franchisee of a brand called myhome way back in January 2007. Our Managing Director Tania started the business having had a successful retail career for many years, the last 10 of which were with John Lewis.
Tania heard many of her friends and colleagues complaining about the cleaning services they used. This led Tania to the idea of bringing the John Lewis ethos for customer service and professionalism to the cleaning industry. In particular Tania felt a lot of improvement could be made in the recruitment, training and employment packages for the cleaning techs.
From the very beginning, Tania instilled our core company values Care, Dependability and Expertise in everything we do and in the way we treat our customers, our staff and our suppliers.
We’re proud to say that we still have our very first customer all these years later. Indeed many of our customers from those early years are still with us.

At HouseWorks , we are always looking to the future and how we can use developments in technology, cleaning products and equipment to improve the service we deliver to customers. We also want to make it as easy as possible for our staff to focus on what they are really good at. We make sure, that for our customers, cleaning their houses is the last thing on their minds.
Our MD can often be found in the cleaning section of stores checking out new products and equipment to try. HouseWorks were one of the first cleaning businesses in the area to use steam mops and now we are one of the first to use electric mops. We don’t ever want to get complacent, and constantly strive to be the best at what we do.
We regularly re-evaluate the software we use to schedule our cleans to make sure we are using the best for both our staff and our customers. Our staff have all the information they need at their fingertips and are able to send on-their-way text messages to clients.
Client feedback is important to us, which is why we send surveys after each and every clean. Our staff take a great deal of pride in their work so they want to know straight away if there’s anything they can do to improve the service the customer receives. We have a really high response rate and our average scores rarely drop below 4.5 out of 5.
Currently we are streamlining our recruitment and training processes so that we can continue to attract and retain the very best staff. We will be updating our already comprehensive training program to make use of the advances in technology so that staff can access their training from wherever and on whatever platform suits their needs and their learning style.
